You've done a very good job at a realistic self-portrait, something many people struggle with.
You didn't make the mistake of outlining everything like you would if you were making a more "cartoon" like drawing. Instead, you focused on using shading to show edges and depth.
Realistic style drawings are just as much about the lines you don't draw, and you seem to understand that very well.
You don't seem to have added anything based on what you think should be there. You've trusted your eyes and just drawn what you saw, resulting in a much better drawing than if you were to add what you think should be drawn or added to it.
Overall, you've done an amazing job here. You've managed to do a great job of a realistic self-portrait, and even managed to inject personality into it with the facial expression and pose. If I had to give a negative mark anywhere, I would have liked to see something a bit more going on with the background, but that would more than likely just distract the viewer from the focus of the drawing.
Everything here is exactly as it was in my reference photograph, so even if I wanted to add more detail to the background, I couldn't of I'm just sitting in front of a wall.
But thank you for your response, I really appreciate it!
